Writing the Introduction – Sentence 1
Step1: Read the question and look at the diagram to see if you can get any additional information.
In this case – The question mentions it’s a library but from the diagram we can see that it only the ground floor that’s been given.
Step 2: In the case of map, I break my introduction in two halves.
Part 1: Mentions that the map shows the layout of the first year, which is 2001.
Part 2: Mentions that the map shows the changes that took place till the second year.

The maps illustrate the plan/layout of a ground floor of a library in 2001(Part 1) and the changes introduced in it over the next eight years (Part 2).
Sentence 1: Done
Writing the overall – 2 Sentences – Sentence 2 and 3
Step1: Count the total number of changes and mark them on your question paper. The first sentence of overall would incorporate the total number of changes
Step 2: Write the sentence
Overall, it can be seen that the library underwent four main changes.
If there are too many changes, you can just write several or many instead of the number.
Step 3: For writing the second sentence of overall, focus on the main one or two changes among the four.
In this case, change 2 and 4 are very important, 1 and 3 are not very significant.
Change 2: addition of new sections (kitchen, economics, law)
Change 4: modernization by addition of computer facilities.
Step 4: Write down these important changes in the second sentence.
The principal change was the addition of new sections and its modernization by addition of IT facilities.

Body Paragraph 1 (Sentences 4 to 6):
Step 1: Divide all the objects into 3 or 4 parts, in the first map.

Note: Use in addition type connectors, between parts.
In 2001, the entrance of the library was on the south side, with the librarian’s desk next to it and stairs to the upper floors to its right.(Sentence 4 – Representing Part1) The library had three sections in 2001, the self-help and history along with the western wall and the fiction section along the northern wall.(Sentence 5- Representing Part2) Besides these three sections, newspapers and periodicals were present in the east and a few square shaped tables were there in the centre.(Sentence 6 -Representing Part3)
Body Paragraph 2 (Sentences 7 to 10):
Step 1: Write the four sentences with each sentence representing a different change, which you marked in overall.

By 2008, the main change that was made was that the newspapers and periodicals were replaced by film and DVDs and a few computers were installed next to them (Sentence7 – Change1). Another major change was the addition of three more sections, kitchen, economics, law along the western wall. (Sentence8 – Change2) The fiction section was also relocated along the western wall and a children’s books section was made in its place. (Sentence9 -Change3) Finally, larger rectangular tables had been placed instead of the squared shaped ones and area between the tables and children’s section was demarcated as children’s area.
