- express your good wishes on retirement
- mention his/her contributions to the company
- suggest how you will keep in touch
Answer (Band 9):
Dear Mr. Wilson,
Congratulations on your retirement after such a long and distinguished career! While I will certainly miss working with you, I am so happy that you can now enjoy a well-earned rest and spend time on the things you love.
Your contribution to the company over the past three decades has been invaluable. From leading complex projects to mentoring younger colleagues, you have left an indelible mark. Personally, I will always be grateful for your guidance when I first joined; your encouragement gave me confidence to grow professionally.
Although we will no longer see each other daily, I hope we can stay in touch. Perhaps we can meet occasionally for coffee, and I would love to hear about your travels or hobbies in retirement. Please know that you will always be remembered fondly here at the office.
Wishing you a joyful and fulfilling new chapter in life.
Sincerely,
Daniel
