📘 Band 5 Version

Basic vocabulary, grammar errors, and limited cohesion. Simple sentence structures.

Dear Mr John,

My name is Indroop Singh. I went on a two-week holiday to Goa with my family. We stayed in your hotel. I want to thank you for giving us good service and care.

We were worried when we arrived because my son fell from an escalator at Goa Airport and broke his leg. After we went to the doctor, we came to the hotel. Our room was on the first floor. But your manager Mr Rohit Basu changed our room to the ground floor, which helped us a lot. He also gave us clean towels and bed sheets and a nice welcome letter from you.

Mr Rohit took good care of my son. I thought I would need to go back home early, but because of him we could enjoy the holiday. I am very thankful to him. I know money cannot pay back his help, but I am giving a cheque of Rs. 5000 to say thank you. Please give it to him.

Yours sincerely,
Indroop Singh

Dear Mr. John,

My name is Indroop Singh, and I recently returned from a two-week holiday in Goa with my family. I am writing to sincerely thank you for the excellent service and special attention we received during our stay.

We were quite stressed when we arrived because my son had an accident at Goa Airport—he fell from an escalator and fractured his leg. After getting medical treatment, we came to the hotel, where we had originally booked a suite on the first floor. Thankfully, your housekeeping manager, Mr. Rohit Basu, upgraded us to a ground-floor suite, which made things much easier for us. He also arranged new bed linens and towels, and we were touched to receive your kind welcome note.

Mr. Basu personally ensured that my son was comfortable and well looked after. I thought we might have to shorten our trip, but thanks to his help, that was not necessary. I truly appreciate his efforts.

As a token of my gratitude, I have enclosed a cheque for Rs. 5000 and would be grateful if you could pass it on to Mr. Basu.

Yours sincerely,
Indroop Singh

📘 Band 9 Version

Dear Mr. John,

My name is Indroop Singh, and my family and I have just returned from a two-week vacation in Goa. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful hospitality and the special attention extended to us during our stay at your hotel.

We were initially very worried about the trip, as my son had a serious accident at the Goa Airport—he fell from an escalator and fractured his leg. After receiving immediate medical attention, we arrived at the hotel with great concern about how we would manage the rest of our stay.

However, your housekeeping manager, Mr. Rohit Basu, went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Although our original booking was for a suite on the first floor, Mr. Basu kindly upgraded us to a ground-floor suite to accommodate my son’s condition. Fresh linens and towels were promptly provided, along with your warm note of welcome, which meant a great deal to us.

What truly stood out was Mr. Basu’s personal care and constant support for my son. Thanks to his kindness and attention, we were able to continue with our vacation without needing to cut it short, which I had feared would be the case.

No amount of money can truly express my appreciation, but as a small token of my gratitude, I have enclosed a cheque for Rs. 5000/- and would be honoured if Mr. Basu would accept it.

Thank you once again for making a difficult situation much easier for our family.

Yours sincerely,
Indroop Singh
