Overall, India recorded the highest cinema attendance across most genres, while Japan consistently had the lowest figures. Action was the most popular category, whereas horror attracted the fewest viewers.

In detail, India dominated viewership in all genres except horror. Action films drew the largest audience overall, with India leading at 8 million viewers, followed by Ireland (7.6 million), New Zealand (7.3 million), and Japan (7.1 million). Romance films showed a similar pattern, with India again in first place, while Ireland had the smallest audience at 3.8 million. New Zealand and Japan each attracted 4.5 million romance viewers.

Horror was the least-watched genre in every country. India had only 2.5 million horror viewers, marginally above Japan’s 2.2 million. In the comedy category, audiences ranged from 6.5 million in India to 4 million in Japan, with Ireland and New Zealand falling in between.
