Focus on Pronunciation
1. Linking Pronunciation
When a word begins with a vowel sound and the previous word ends in a consonant sound, we link the two sounds together in continuous natural speech. Listen again to candidate 2 on page 10 speaking and note how he links his words.

When one word ends in a vowel sound and the following word starts with a vowel sound, we often link the two together by adding an extra ‘intruding’ sound. The intrusive sounds are /j/, In, and /w/.
2. Sentence/ Word Stress:-
Speakers generally stress content words (words that carry meaning like nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs) rather than grammar words (prepositions, auxiliary verbs, pronouns, etc). However, any word may be stressed for emphasis.
