IELTS Reading Course (Ac+ GT)

Matching a sentence to a paragraph” is a common IELTS Reading task where the test-taker is required to identify which paragraph a given sentence belongs to. Unlike heading matching, which focuses on the main idea, this task requires locating a specific piece of information, idea, or opinion expressed in the paragraph.

Purpose:

  • Tests ability to understand details within paragraphs.
  • Evaluates ability to recognize paraphrasing.
  • Assesses reading comprehension and logical mapping of ideas.

Structure of the Task

  • A passage is divided into paragraphs (usually 5–7).
  • A list of sentences (usually 7–10) is provided.
  • Task: Match each sentence to the paragraph where the idea is explicitly stated or implied.
