In both years, HP was the dominant market leader, holding 31.4% of the market in 2006 and increasing slightly to 34% in 2007. This share exceeded the combined total of its two nearest competitors, Dell and Acer.
Dell’s market share grew notably from 16.6% in 2006 to 20.2% in 2007. Conversely, Acer experienced a minor decline, dropping from 11.6% to 10.7% over the same period.
The remaining manufacturers held considerably smaller portions of the market. Toshiba’s share increased modestly from 6.2% to 7.3%, while Lenovo’s fell slightly from 6.6% to 6.2%. Fujitsu-Siemens saw a significant decrease, with its share more than halving from 4.8% to 2.3%.
Other notebook manufacturers accounted for 22.8% of the market in 2006, surpassing all companies except HP. However, in 2007, their combined share fell to 19.3%, which was less than both HP and Dell’s individual shares.
